LAHORE – To iron out difference among the founding members and old political faces, the PTI high command is working to bring an interim party organisational setup, probably next month, it is learnt.
Insiders in the PTI privy told this scribe on Friday that the party leadership focusing three major points including internal fighting between the founding members and old political heavyweights for party positions, grabbing sizeable number of votes in the next polls, and making a formula to bring interim organisation of the party that would sustain till the next general elections.
When asked about the party elections, they quoting the senior party leaders that intra-party polls would be held after the next elections, as the interim party organisation would lead the PTI into the general polls.
Informing about the likely shape of the upcoming interim setup of the party, they said Punjab and other provinces would be divided into various zones, while the other tiers of the interim arrangement include district, tehsil and union council bodies.
They added the new shape of party organisation in Punjab expected to be south, north, central and west zones, while another under consideration option was to divide Punjab into Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha and other zones keeping in view the local political necessities. The zones would be followed by district, tehsil and union council bodies, while the existing provincial constituency organiser system likely to be abolished, while similar formula would be adopted in other provinces.
About changes in the central setup of the party, they informed that the office of the chairman, vice chairmen and information secretary would not be affected, while the remaining party offices most likely to divided according to the new formula.
Insiders further revealed that more old faces expected to be named as vice chairmen of the party and Shah Mehmood Qureshi would not be the only vice chairman. They added that all the new party office-bearers under the interim formula would be nominated by party various level leaderships recommendations with the consent of the scrutiny committee.
They quoting the makers of the interim party setup as saying that the PTI would be cut into several portions to accommodate not only the old political bigwigs but also to facilitate the founding party leaders.
About the expected date of launch of the interim setup, they maintained the temporary arrangement most likely to commence next month, however it could face some delay due to Imran Khan’s tour programme of the rural areas of the Punjab starting from February 27 and expected to end in April.
Insiders also told no new inclusion into the party would be made till the launch of the interim party setup except the vital political figures.
When contacted, PTI senior leader, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema neither denying nor confirming the information said that party needed some changes as its size stretched three times than its founding capacity and all the party men both new and old should be given responsibilities.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Monday confirmed that Pakistan will be attending the upcoming Heart of Asia conference scheduled to be held in India.
Aziz confirmed Pakistan?s participation while talking to journalists in the federal capital.
