Lieutenant-General Zubair Mahmood Hayat HI(M), is Pakistani army general who is the current Chief of General Staff. He served as Corps Commander Bahawalpur and Director-General of Strategic Plans Division Force before assuming office of Chief of General Staff. He was also Principal Staff Officer with former Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani as a Brigadier.

Military career
The newly-appointed CJCSC Lt-Gen Zubair Hayat was previously responsible for the safety and security of the country's nuclear programme.

Hayat was commissioned in the Pakistan Army's Sindh Regiment in 1982. He attended Pakistan Military Academy's 62nd long course. He has been posted at several important operational and staff positions in the army and is considered an excellent military officer.

Lt-Gen Hayat was posted as head of the army's Strategic Plans Division which ensures the safety of nuclear institutions.

As a major general, Hayat served as General Officer Commanding in Sialkot and also headed the Staff Duties at Directorate.

He was given the command of army's 31st Corps - Bahawalpur after he was alleviated to the rank of a three-star general. He is considered an excellent officer of the Artillery Regiment and is currently posted as Colonel Commandant of the Artillery Regiment.
