Savour Foods Fined' Sealed Following Yesterday's Episode

Following social media outrage, Savour foods Islamabad has been closed down and fined for the use of plastic bags as well as attacking government officials. The action has been taken after the video of the incident went viral yesterday. The officials of the Ministry of Climate Change and Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Tuesday went to the famous Savour foods to inspect after a complete ban on polythene is levied in the federal capital. When they were caught still using the plastic bags, the Savour staff manhandled, pushed and misbehaved the government officials. According to the details, the ministry officials when for inspection where they engaged in an argument with the restaurant staff because they were still using plastic bags, even after a complete ban was imposed by the Ministry of Climate Change this independence day. The video of the incident went viral on social media, causing public outrage. After the video went viral, the authorities sprung into action and Savour foods was sealed. Along with it, the culprits have also been arrested and a fine of Rs. 200,000 has been imposed on the restaurant. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad shared the details on Twitter. Federal Cabinet approved the Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO), completely banning the use of plastic bags in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). Malik Amin Aslam, an adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change, aimed that the federal capital will be collectively rejecting polythene on 14th August, as they have become a disaster for the society. With health and climatic implications, excessive plastic bags usage has chocked 80% of the drains across the country. After the new implementation of new SRO, a fine of Rs 50,000 to Rs 500,000 will be levied at manufacturers of plastic bags, the traders of polythene or plastic bags would be fined Rs 10,000 to Rs 5 million while the people using them will have to pay a penalty of Rs 5000,
